Michael T. Walsh is a Co-founder of BSWB. Michael
is an AV-rated attorney who has developed expertise in reinsurance, excess
and primary coverage disputes, professional liability matters, coverage investigations,
mass tort litigation, broker and intermediary errors and omissions cases, employment practices liability, as
well as RICO claims and regulatory matters.
Mike was formerly in-house counsel at Skandia-America Reinsurance Corporation
where he instituted and headed a national litigation program on their excess
and reinsured professional liability exposure.
He has obtained favorable results on both the ceded and assumed side in
arbitrations involving most major reinsurance issues, including allocation on environmental
claims, finite risk, rescission actions, matters involving ECO and loss in
excess of policy limits, as well as underlying clergy sexual misconduct professional liability issues.
In addition, he has been involved in litigation based on allegations against
reinsurance intermediaries, including the successful defense of a RICO action.
Mike also has extensive experience in negotiating the commutation of
reinsurance contracts, as well as the performance of other financial analyses
that are vital to the strategic plans of runoff operations, including claim
and underwriting audits and litigation management over entire books of business.

He has obtained favorable verdicts and settlements in many areas of
professional liability including claims against attorneys, accountants and insurance
and reinsurance brokers and intermediaries.
Mike was a founding partner of the New York
firm of Walsh & Sheehan, LLP, which joined its
litigation and arbitration practice in the areas
of professional liability and insurance and reinsurance
with Peterson & Ross, LLC in July of 2000.
He is a certified Arbitrator and Mediator for AIDA Reinsurance
and Insurance Arbitration Society (ARIAS-US). He is also a member of the
Law Committee of ARIAS-US and the chair of the
Advance Planning Committee of AIRROC
(Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Run-Off Companies).
Mike has authored numerous articles and lectures frequently
on topics in the insurance and reinsurance fields.
Mr. Walsh represents the Estate of Martin Ramirez,
the deceased Mexican artist who created over 400 known drawings
while confined to California State Mental Hospitals from 1931
to 1963. Ramirez has been described as "one of the greatest
artists of the Twentieth Century" by The New York Times.
His heirs include 13 adult grandchildren who now receive
compensation for the drawings, "Life Story Rights", and copyright issues.
